  • The President of the United States chugs down a dozen cans of Diet Coke every single day!
  • In a single can, he is downing a mixture of aspartame, caramel colouring and caffeine
  • By consuming these bevvys, Trump is also increasing his risk of metabolic syndrome.

The unhealthy lifestyle of American President, Donald Trump, has left us at a loss for words…

In a recent edition of The New York Times, we discovered that the “leader of the free world” watches up to eight hours of television everyday, while sipping his way through a dozen cans of Diet Coke. So, we decided to question how these dietary choices are affecting his health?

Put simply, diet soft drinks are loaded with artificial sweeteners, the most common of which is called aspartame. This sweetener has been shown to increase a person’s appetite for sweet food and drinks, much like plain ol’ sugar. So, while the President might think he’s consuming a “healthier” alternative to sugary soda, these diet soft drinks are doing just as much harm to his body.

Artificial sweeteners have also been linked to an increased risk of metabolic syndrome, which includes diabetes, stroke and heart disease. In fact, one study in particular found that people who drank artificially-sweetened soft drinks had a 34 per cent greater risk of developing these illnesses. But wait, there’s more… diet soft drinks have also been linked to abdominal obesity, as well as an increased risk of dementia and they have been shown to erode the enamel on teeth. Yikes!

Maybe it’s time for President Trump to swap out his Diet Coke habit for some sugar-free kombucha instead?
