We bang on about the many benefits of quitting sugar daily – clear skin, more energy and improved mood – to name just a few.

But, we often get asked – will I also lose weight if I ditch the sweet stuff?

While everyone can expect to experience different results by following our 8-Week Program, so many of our success stories talk about the welcome waistline whittling benefits of giving up sugar. It’s important to note that our Program is designed by nutritionists so you find your healthiest self rather than your perfect summer bod, but if weight loss is a happy side effect you’re keen to enjoy, here’s what you need to know…

Why will I lose weight when I quit sugar?

Put simply, by removing sugar from your diet, you immediately eliminate processed foods as well. And, as we all know, processed foods are laden with hidden nasties including sugar and vegetable oils.

Once you’ve removed the junk, you’ll be left to enjoy whole, nutrient-dense foods that are as close to their natural state as possible – AKA, JERF (just eat real food). This simple philosophy underpins all that we do here at IQS and for those who aren’t already familiar with this way of eating, it’s literally how your grandparents used to eat. Think meat and three veg, vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds, full-fat dairy and that chicken skin!

How much can I lose?

While results will obviously vary from person to person (and not everyone doing our Program wants or needs to lose weight), some of our sugar-quitters report shedding anywhere from five kilos to as much as 20!

But here’s where it gets really interesting. Unlike your regular run-of-the-mill restrictive diets, detoxes and quick-fix cleanses, once you’ve finished our 8-Week Program, you’ll likely keep the weight off… for good!
