We are super excited to feature this decadent BBQ Banana Split recipe from Rani Hansen. When we called out for your favourite barbecue recipe on Instagram, this delicious combination really stood out! You can definitely get creative with the toppings, as long as there's oozy banana and dark chocolate involved!

Servings: 4
Preparation: 5 mins
Cooking: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas.
  • 20 g finely chopped 85–90% or above dark chocolate (about 2 large squares).
  • 1/2 cup double cream or full-fat natural yoghurt, to serve.
  • 2 tablespoons crushed peanuts, to serve.
  • cherries, to serve.

Directions

1. Heat your BBQ on low.

2. Make a cut through the skin of the bananas so there is a slit from top to bottom. Be careful not to slice all the way through.

3. Stuff the slits with the chopped chocolate, and then wrap the bananas in foil.

4. Place the bananas on your BBQ plate, cut side up, and close lid.

5. Cook for 15–20 minutes until the bananas are soft and the chocolate is melted.

6. Unwrap the bananas from the foil and place in a bowl. Top with cream or natural yoghurt, crushed peanuts and a few cherries.
