Hurrah, we made it!
If you’ve also been following the 8-Week Program then congrats – you’ve made it too. Eight weeks down and it’s safe to say we’re living the sugar-free life and loving it.
Over these past two months we’ve experienced our fair share of ups and downs, but now we’ve come out the other side, we can’t wait to share what we’ve learnt.
1. We don’t need snacks.
Were we just eating out of boredom before? Or did we feel entitled to our 11am and 3pm bites? Now that we’re eating three filling meals a day, packed with veggies, protein and healthy fats, we’re satiated and satisfied all day long. The result? We’ve said sayonara to our snacking habits.
2. It’s easier with a friend.
We’ve definitely had to lean on each other throughout our journey, so the fact that we sit next to each other works a treat. When I’ve wanted to crumble and reach for the choccy, Ash has been there to slap it out of my hand and tell me to make a herbal tea instead. Get your friends and family on board and tackle the sugar-free life together, or make the most of the community forums and lean on a support crew that are going through the exact same process as you.
3. We can cook!
It’s been so refreshing getting back into the kitchen and trying out flavour combos that we wouldn’t normally think of. The ease of the shopping lists, meal plans and forums take all the guesswork out – off to the supermarket we go, knowing the meals are going to be YUM!
4. We don’t miss fruit.
Prior to the 8-Week Program, Ash and I loved a lil’ fruit here and there, so the idea of not having a banana on hand was definitely worrying. But, not only have we not had any fruit for the last eight weeks (except some berries when the Program allows) but, we aren’t craving it like we thought we would. Turns out our palates did need recalibrating after all!
5. The sugar-free life comes with a LOT of perks…
So, where should we start with this one? The benefits that we have found are endless – clearer skin and fewer breakouts (if any), being able to sleep deeply through the night, no more mood swings, and sustained energy throughout the day, just to name a few. We’re well and truly converted to the sugar-free life!
