Answering Your Most Asked Questions

With our 8-Week Program fast approaching, we’ve received an influx of comments and queries from you. We’ve heard you and are here to answer all your burning questions.

Do I have to start the 8-Week Program on the exact start date?

If you've missed the first day of the program, you can still sign up with us – you’ll just have a little catching up to do. Luckily, we provide extensive online resources for you, including recipes, instructions and shopping lists, so you’ll be well equipped to stay on track.

Will there be any meal plans and weekly menus?

Yes, we will have extensive meal plans and weekly menus – including shopping lists for anything and everything you could possibly need in the program. We also aim to make these plans as affordable as possible, along with ensuring they are nutritionally balanced with everything from healthy fats to calcium and iron. The menus will include some of your old favourites like pancakes and muffins, along with hearty dishes like curry and soups. We’ll also show you how to meal prep and save time in the kitchen – all the best tools and tips will be provided in the program.

How much weight will I lose?

While our biggest goal in the program is to show you how to eat holistically and manage those sugar cravings, one of the side benefits of quitting sugar and processed foods is that you will likely lose weight – this of course will depend on your body, after all, no body  is the same and everyone’s needs will differ slightly.

Can I sign up if I don’t live in Australia?

Yes, no matter where you are, we’d love to have you in the program. All the exclusive content, including shopping lists and meal plans, will be available online.

What’s the aim of the program?

Our goal is to help you take back control of your health and break free from the addictive hold of sugar. We want to equip you with the tools to manage cravings, along with transforming the way you look at food and nutrition. With experts at your fingertips, you’ll learn how to implement a balanced meal plan – not just during the program, but in the long term. We also aim to unpack the deep-rooted emotional links to food and sugar, and then reframe this to set you up for lifelong success with your health goals, whether that is to improve digestive issues, mental health and skin problems, or even to lose weight. Our aim is your aim – we want to help you make your health dreams happen.

What measurements do the recipes use?

We mostly use the metric system for our measurements, including grams and litres, but we also use the imperial system in cases where we find it more appropriate – for instance, with cups, tablespoons and teaspoons. We feel these are easier to visualise and understand the amounts we’re actually consuming, along with being a simpler way to measure your ingredients.

Can I do the program while breastfeeding?

You can absolutely take part in the 8-Week Program if you’re breastfeeding – in fact, some of our expert panel have experience in prenatal and neonatal health. Learn more about them here. The recipes and meal plans are nutritionally balanced, and studies show the benefits of reducing sugar intake during the pregnancy and breastfeeding stages.

What kind of sugar withdrawal symptoms can I expect?

Ranging from the physical signs to mental health, sugar’s effects are wide reaching. Research has shown sugar triggers your brain’s reward system, even evoking a stronger reward response than cocaine. It works by causing the release of dopamine, the “feel-good” hormone, in the brain The result? A vicious cycle of reward-seeking eating habits. When we break this cycle, we can expect a few withdrawal symptoms – on the physical side of things, headaches, fatigue and dizziness tend to be most common. Anxiety, irritability and mood swings are also par for the course in the early stages of quitting sugar, but you can take solace in the fact that these symptoms won’t last long. They generally clear up in a matter of days or possibly weeks, but when you come out on the other end, you’ll be a new person – stronger both physically and mentally.

Do I need to do any preparations?

You don’t need to do anything before starting the program – we’ve got you covered. If you want to get a head start and ditch those sugary products, you’re more than welcome to, but the most important thing you can do is to know your health goals and get ready to watch them become a reality.

How do I know if I should join?

  1. Do you struggle with fatigue and those afternoon energy slumps?
  2. Do you crave sugar after meals?
  3. Do you deal with brain fog?
  4. Are you unable to just have a little bit of something sweet, and end up binging on the whole thing?
  5. Do you suffer from bloating after meals?

If you said yes to any of these questions, the 8-Week Program is definitely for you. Anyone looking to transform their health will benefit greatly from the program and will leave equipped to manage sugar cravings and nutrition, along with learning how to implement – and stick to – long-term health goals.

What are the dietary options?

Vegetarian, paleo, gluten-free and dairy-free people will be pleased to know all our meal plans are designed with the flexibility to suit your needs. We’ll also be providing an Allergy Substitution Guide and techniques for ingredient swapping. While we haven’t mastered a vegan program as of yet, you can still make your own adjustments to the recipes to suit your diet – just be sure that you’re incorporating in sources of those essential nutrients like vitamin B12.

Is Sarah Wilson running the program?

Sarah created the program, so you'll know that they're packed with her innovative learnings and research. Although she is no longer the 'face' of I Quit Sugar, we are pumped to have our team of experts guiding you along in your sugar-free journey and beyond! They will be providing new and exclusive content to set you up for success. We know how hard it can be to fight those cravings and low moods alone, that’s why we’re here to provide reliable techniques and a supportive community to help you change your life – for good.

How does the program differ from that which is set out in the I Quit Sugar  book?

While we’ll be following much of the same principles, techniques and tools to support you through your sugar-free journey, when you sign up with the program you’ll have invaluable week-by-week guidance, exclusive content from our panel of experts and community support to help you make your health goals a reality.

How much does it cost?

The program costs $169 AUD, and you’ll have access to weekly meal plans, shopping lists, community forums, ongoing guidance and instruction, along with exclusive content from our panel of health experts.

After the one-off sign-up fee, we’ve worked hard to create meal plans with ingredients that are affordable and accessible. That’s why we use seasonal produce, which tends to be cheaper, and we encourage you to make any modifications that better suit your budget so your weekly shop can be as inexpensive as possible. On average, buying the ingredients from our meal plans should cost around $100 per week, though it will depend on how well-stocked your kitchen is already and where you shop.
