We’re thrilled to introduce one of our exciting new expert panellists for the January 8-Week Program – Jennifer Ward is an experienced and passionate senior naturopath and lifestyle coach who will be sharing her tips and tricks to getting healthy – and staying healthy.
The senior naturopath owns Hälsa Health, a naturopathic clinic centred around women’s health and fertility. Jennifer believes in backing natural solutions to turn our health goals into a reality. But that’s not all – she’s also highly-qualified in prescribing herbal and nutritional medicine, and she knows well the importance of wholistic health. With a long-term approach to wellbeing, Jennifer aims to empower you to leave the program with the skills and confidence to navigate your future of healthy living.
With 8 years of clinical experience, Jennifer is well-versed in the naturopathic and nutritional essentials when undergoing a big life change like quitting sugar – something that has been a major part of many of our lives since childhood. For some, sugary foods may remind us of nostalgic childhood memories, while for others these foods are what have comforted us through stressful times. The emotional link to food is so powerful that it can make the quitting process particularly challenging from a phycological aspect. It’s part of why we created the 8-Week Program – to get a support network rallying behind you in those difficult times – and it’s also why Jennifer’s all about managing whole-body health – from your head to your toes. It’s not just about losing weight or getting shinier hair, it’s about working through those intense emotions and relearning how to nourish ourselves – and, yes, meeting all your other health goals along the way.
As a mum herself, Jennifer knows the importance of getting the whole family involved in the nutrition process – she’ll be sharing her tried-and-true tips and tricks to working together to achieve and maintain your health goals. For those of you out there who are pregnant or try to get pregnant, our expert naturopath will be providing a toolkit to help you navigate this challenging time – know that you're not alone. Many people who are expecting have decided to take back control of their health, and it's not only safe to undertake the program, but it's a powerful and transformative decision for you and your little one's lives. Studies show how important our gut microbiome is in influencing both your the baby’s health – it is essential for foetal development and the diversity of the baby’s own microbiome after their birth. The gut microbiome is made up of trillions of bacteria, and it’s essential to tip the balance in favour of the good bacteria to protect the stomach lining, strengthen immunity and prevent the development of metabolic syndrome and autoimmune conditions. One study shows that the gut microbiome regulates the immunity, and good gut health during pregnancy ensures the baby is off to a strong start in our very germy world. And what send our microbiome haywire? Sugar, of course. That's why ditching the swathes of added sugars in processed foods is the key to balancing your microbes in your favour.
